HAF (Holiday, Activity and Food Programme)

If you would like to book a HAF place at Schools Out Club. Please follow the link on the code that has been sent by your child’s school. This will direct you to the Derby City HAF booking page where you can choose from providers of the HAF program and also dates that you would like to book in for. 

What is the Holiday, Activity and Food Programme? 

The HAF programme is a government funded scheme, run during the Easter, Summer and Xmas/ Jan school holidays. Its aim is to provide support to children and families who are in receipt of free school meals that are benefit related. The scheme funds 4 hour sessions over four days for the Easter and Xmas/Jan school holidays and funds 4 hour sessions over 16 days of the summer holidays. These holidays and dates are advertised on our holiday club newsletter and can be booked by looking for a link on the email sent from your child’s school with your HAF code on. This will direct you to the Derby City HAF booking site.

Who is the HAF programme for? 

The HAF holiday provision is for school aged children from reception to year 11 (inclusive) who receive benefits-related free school meals. This FUNDING IS NOT FOR CHILDREN UNDER 5 yrs old.

How will I know if my child is entitled to the sessions? 

Your child must attend either a Derby City School or a Derbyshire school. The funding is NOT available for children in nursery aged children. They must receive benefit-related free school meals (FSM). These are available to pupils if their parents are in receipt of one of the qualifying benefits, and have a claim verified by their school or local authority.

These may include:

  • Income Support

  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance 

  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance 

  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 

  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit 

  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190) 

  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit 

  • Universal Credit – if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get) 

What is involved in the HAF session? 

The HAF sessions are on certain days of the school holiday. Each session is 4 hours long. Within the session time children will receive a hot lunch, 60 minutes sport or physical exercise, enrichment activities such as arts and crafts, science projects, growing & nature or music and drama. Within the sessions children will also get the chance to take part in baking and cookery activities, that teach them key skills, learn about healthy lifestyles and the correct nutritional balance to be healthy. We do encourage children to bring their own water bottle however drinks are always available. 

Where are the HAF sessions held?

The HAF sessions are available at the following venues; 

  • Allestree –St Edmund’s Church Hall, Kingscroft, Allestree, DE22 2FN (Derby City Children 5-8 years)

Sessions will run from 10am-2pm.

How do I sign my children up?

  1. Find the email sent from your child’s school that is giving you your HAF Code. This email will invite you to click the link to register and take you to the portal. 
  2. Once on the portal you will be able to view all of the HAF programs that are running over the holiday and select which ones you would like to book your child in for. 

We can no longer accept last minute bookings at holiday club. Bookings received with less than 48 hours notice to the date required will not be booked in.
